Our Purpose.

Link Japan Careers Europe is dedicated to helping international professionals establish a career in Japan. We exist to provide meaningful employment opportunities to English-speaking candidates who are keen to broaden their horizons, embrace a new culture and embark on their next big adventure in this beautiful part of the world.

We don’t just help people find jobs – we also help them prepare for their relocation overseas. We support our clients in every aspect of their move, from applying for their visa to setting up housing, securing a bank account, and arranging all the myriad other things that make Japan a home, not just a destination.

Globalisation presents challenges for staffing, onboarding and supporting international candidates, and many companies are not equipped to manage these processes in the best possible way. We are guided by the concept of Cross-Cultural Design, an approach we share with our parent company, Link Japan Careers, in Tokyo. It allows us to design solutions that allow companies and their employees to develop mutually beneficial relationships.

Cross-Cultural Design.

There is a lot of discussion about cross-cultural affairs and how cultural differences can complicate living and working in another country. This is equally true in Japan, but the accessibility of the jobs market is the main issue facing employers and employees here.

Various barriers are in place that limit Japan’s ability to attract people with talent and know-how from beyond its borders – and this in turn is causing the basic needs of Japanese society to go unmet. Some of these problems are structural, like limits on immigration, and so can only be overcome through legal changes subject to larger socio-political forces; others like facilitating finding housing, a good job, and establishing a foundation for daily life in Japan, are issues that can be overcome by designed solutions, much like those that would be developed to make a building more accessible or a computer program more user-friendly.

There are plenty of jobs international professionals could fill – but they just can’t find them! Employers in Japan are eager for new talent often cannot bridge the language gap effectively enough to attract applications. Our placement service crosses between cultures to provide accessibility to the Japanese job market while helping ex-patriots and employers work together effectively to overcome the unique challenges of working and living in Japan.

Our Vision.

Through Cross-Cultural Design, we will achieve a more meaningful society by offering a fully comprehensive range of services to organisations and individuals.

We will deliver supporting structures that allow international professionals to work and live comfortably in Japan. Our work will create experiences, encourage participation, and leverage the differences between Japan and other countries as strengths, not weaknesses.

Our Commitment to Diversity.

At Link Japan Careers Europe, we strive to reflect our commitment to diversity and equal opportunity in the people and companies we work with. We are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment dedicated to the success of the people we work with, be they job seekers, employees, clients, or partners.

Our History.

We contribute several hundred placements a year to our larger group company’s annual volume of over 1,000 hires globally and can draw from more than 37,000 registered candidates for staffing purposes at any one time. We are proud to be part of a global team with offices or partners in North America and the Caribbean, Oceania, the Philippines and, of course, Japan.

Proudly based in Edinburgh, Scotland, Link Japan Careers Europe (LJC-E) was established as wholly-owned subsidiary of Link Japan Careers (LJC) on April 1, 2020 to consolidate existing operations managed by recruiting partners and serve as a launching pad to expand our services in other parts of Europe and Africa.

Collectively, our staff and directors bring more than three decades of job search and placement experience to the table. We know first-hand the challenges that come with transitioning to working and living in Japan, and we are very proud to be part of a world-wide network that supports candidates beyond simply finding a job.
